It was beautiful seeing Obama take office today. My children watched with me as history unfolded.
Then, Alden announced he wanted to be president someday.
I don't have the heart to tell him yet that he can't.
We have to change that so foreign born adopted kids can dream, too!

Why beautiful?
Because we've evolved to the point that we can elect a black man as president - a beautiful step in an upward direction. Regardless of my political beliefs, I am thrilled to have seen this!
If he was a Republican, he would not have been elected.
We did not get to see this historic event as we were in meetings all day and didn't even get to see the news. I agree it is an amazing sight and I do pray that he will succeed in his goal of uniting our country. We so desperately need to love each other and see the desire for good in others opinions especially when they do not match our own. Thank you for not crushing Alden's desires, Honey, he would make an interesting president, "which country?" Love you all, Mom
Uniting our country? That power does not rest in the hands of any human being on the planet.
"We despise all reverences and all objects of reverence which are outside the pale of our list of sacred things and yet, with strange inconsistency, we are shocked when other people despise and defile the things which are holy for us" Mark
Twain
Clever. Truth is in danger these days, it seems...
Loved your post. I've had the same feelings re. my foreign born adopted kids. Their day is coming too!
Love your blog too, btw. It reminds me of our life!
